The sex pistols album ‘never mind the bollocks’ was a controversial musical statement from the onset. Named in Times Magazines 100 greatest albums of all time its a total classic! The Sex Pistols exploded onto the London Punk scene in ‘77, pioneering a stripped down musical style at odds with the periods prog rock ‘stadium style’ rock and roll left over from the ‘60’s. The Sex Pistols were trying to get back to the music, the aggression and ferocity of OG rock, they rejected the Rock stay stereotype and promoted an anyone can do this ethos.

The album title is credited to guitarist Steve Jones. Singer Johnny Rotten explained it as a working class version of “stop talking rubbish” or “dont worry about that other crap, here is a good band”.

Much like the musical climate in ‘77 we here at Blue Sky think specialty coffee in 2021 is a bloated of pompous caricature of its former glory. Cheap and easily sourced Caturra alongside poorly made ferments with additives of fruit and sugar are presented as exemplars of terrior flavours! Slick branding and Green washing dominate the specialty coffee space and flavour of the actual drinks goes out the window.

Just like the Sex Pistols we want to get back to basics and drink genuinely rare, amazing varietals that taste like fruit while being composed of only brewed coffee and water. Never mind the cheap Blender beans here is Phenomenal Geisha beans- Blue Sky Coffee!
